Lead Healthcare Innovation with Floyd Slaski Architects – Where Design Transforms Lives
Established in 1952, Floyd Slaski Architects has combined creativity with technical expertise to shape environments that uplift communities. With offices in Putney and West Dulwich, we are proud to be an ISO-certified practice specialising in healthcare design. Our close-knit team of around 30 professionals thrives on collaboration, delivering projects across the UK and internationally—from NHS and private healthcare work to healthcare developments in the Middle East.

The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Director of Healthcare (or an ambitious Associate ready to step up) to oversee transformative healthcare projects at all RIBA stages. In this senior role, you will provide clear direction to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring designs remain patient-centric, inclusive, and forward-thinking. You will also play a key part in shaping the practice’s broader growth and influencing how we approach new opportunities.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and Mentor Teams: Direct project teams, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing, innovation, and staff development.
  • Oversee Complex Healthcare Projects: Manage whole hospital planning and major refurbishments—from initial bids to project completion—both in the UK and abroad.
  • Strengthen Client Relationships: Serve as a key liaison for NHS and private healthcare clients, building trust through clear communication and consistent delivery.
  • Drive Practice Development: Contribute to business development and practice management, including bid writing and strategic proposals.
  • Champion Inclusive Design: Ensure neurodiverse-friendly strategies and patient wellness principles underpin every stage of your projects.

Key Qualities We Seek

  • Proven Healthcare Experience: A strong track record delivering large-scale healthcare projects, including entire hospital planning and complex refurbishments.
  • Technical Mastery: Robust knowledge of healthcare design guidance, RIBA work stages, and diverse contract types (e.g., NEC, JCT, or bespoke).
  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent client-facing skills, capable of guiding teams, engaging stakeholders, and shaping project outcomes.
  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to spot growth opportunities and align them with the practice’s long-term vision.
  • Commitment to Improvement: Enthusiasm for continuously refining design approaches, user experiences, and operational efficiencies.

Why Join Us?

  • Meaningful Impact: Contribute to projects that directly improve patient care environments and support healthier communities.
  • Collaborative Culture: Thrive in a supportive atmosphere that values mentorship, teamwork, and open dialogue.
  • Professional Development: Step into a leadership role with freedom to influence practice-wide initiatives and pioneer innovation.
  • Flexible Working Model: Enjoy a balanced mix of office, site, and home-based work to suit professional and personal needs.
  • Competitive Package: Attractive remuneration reflective of seniority, alongside performance bonuses and benefits.
