Salary: up to £37,000 per annum, based upon experience and location

Location: London / Hybrid / Remote

Hours: 35 hours per week, full-time, 12-month fixed term contract, (Maternity cover, Starting 6th January – 24th December 2025)

RIBA has been operating for nearly 200 years. You may have seen our annual Stirling Prize for the UK’s best building online, read about our campaigning work in the national press, or seen a red signboard promoting RIBA architects on a construction site near you.

Our Marketing team runs campaigns to promote RIBA’s activities, events, products and services and thought leadership initiatives, covering topics from inspirational building design to sustainable architecture and business management.

It’s an exciting time to join RIBA in this fixed term contract to coordinate and implement our new social media strategy and deliver our business-as-usual marketing programme.

About the Role

This role requires a proactive and creative Social Media Executive who has a strong understanding of the individual social media platforms and experience working with multiple stakeholders across a variety of content. Your efforts will directly contribute to increasing brand awareness, improving marketing effectiveness, and driving traffic, sales, and conversions across our digital channels.

You will collaborate closely with our Marketing, Content, and Communications Teams, as well as other key stakeholders, to deliver a cohesive social media strategy. Your focus will be on developing and executing engaging B2B and B2C social media campaigns, that promote RIBA’s activities, events, and initiatives. These campaigns will target a diverse audience, including RIBA members, architects, construction industry professionals, government representatives, advertisers, sponsors, and the general public.

Key responsibilities:

  • Implement our new social media strategy, working alongside the Digital Marketing Manager and other internal stakeholders
  • Manage and oversee social media content across our key marketing and communications channels (including X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram)
  • Optimise campaign performance, monitor/measure campaign outcomes, report on ROI and offer insight and make recommendations for change and optimisation
  • Review the performance of our social media channels, including audience analysis, and make recommendations for consolidation, change and optimisation
  • Stay up-to-date with latest social media best practices and technologies
  • Use social media marketing tools such as HootSuite and Canva and reporting via Google Analytics
  • Work with content providers and designers to ensure content is informative and appealing
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Content, Communications Teams and with other channel owners
  • Provide constructive feedback, training and support to other internal channel owners
  • Ensure all activities are on-brand

What are we looking for?

We seek an enthusiastic and engaged Social Media Executive with high organisational skills, creative flair and technical ability with vast social media marketing experience. Knowledge and experience of Hootsuite, Canva, Google Analytics desired. 

You should have:

  • Significant experience as a social media specialist or similar role
  • Experience developing and implementing social media strategy across multiple channels and using social media for brand awareness, impressions and conversions
  • Excellent knowledge of X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, including social media best practice and technical abilities
  • Good understanding of social media KPIs
  • Familiarity with content production and publishing
  • Demonstrable organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills
  • Experience of working within a commercial target driven environment
  • Good knowledge of Google Analytics, Microsoft programmes, social media platforms/channels (including HootSuite or similar), CMS and CRM systems
  • Experience in creating and managing complex relationships in a membership organisation or b2b environment
  • Excellent understanding of marketing concepts and best practices
  • Business and/or marketing qualification
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy
  • Experience working in publishing, events, business services or membership marketing is advantageous. A business/marketing qualification is desirable.
