Company Overview:

We are a small team, providing services to our working boatyard. The boatyard designs, builds and project  manages the entire process of building houseboats.  This includes architecture, structure, project management and interior design. 

Job Overview:

This is an opportunity for a self-motivated and detail-focused Architect or Part II Architect who has strong experience not only in designing and drawing but also a proven track record in site work and getting involved in the build and practical side of architecture. 

The role could be full-time or 3-4 days a week if preferred.

You will be organised, practical, enjoy being part of a small team, be a self-starter who is happy working alone as well as part of a team, a good communicator, passionate about architectural details, enjoy working with engineers and builders and knows how to ensure what has been drawn gets built in the most efficient way.

We pride ourselves in our attention to detail and taking care work is done to the highest standard.  You will have experience in the UK residential sector as some of the projects are houseboats. You will enjoy finding workable and practical solutions on a daily basis which will involve extensive liaison with builders, welders and other team members.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ability to prepare technical drawings to the highest level and to timescales
  • Ability to come up with design ideas including preparing accurate exterior elevations
  • Ability to work with technical build team on structural elements
  • Skill to assess on daily basis that the build is being done according to approved drawings and in the most efficient way
  • Technical knowledge of building details and processes
  • Two-dimensional drafting working between plans, elevations, and sections is essential.
  • Collating and organising drawings.

Skills, Knowledge, Attributes and Experience

Essential:

  • At least 4+ years’ postgrad with experience in UK residential sector and extensive site experience
  • Excellent AutoCAD and Microsoft skills
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written (fluent English will be required)
  • Attention to detail with a value on accuracy
  • Be enthusiastic, professional, hard-working, reliable, proactive, and organised
  • Possess the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Able to multitask and manage own workload
  • Excellent references will be required.
