Salary: c£44,000 per annum, based upon experience and location

Location: London/Hybrid working

Hours: 35 hours per week, full-time, permanent

About the Role

We’re seeking a dynamic, organised and collaborative Senior Policy and Public Affairs Advisor to join our small, but highly-effective, policy and public affairs team. The Senior Policy and Public Affairs Advisor will be responsible for designing and delivering a policy and public affairs programme that feeds into long and short-term policy priorities on sustainability, building safety and international growth.

No two days will be the same, but you can expect to:

  • Commission or conduct new research and assist with communication and production of material for publication.
  • Deliver projects and policy consultation work with input from RIBA’s expert members.
  • Provide expertise on your core areas of policy responsibility and feed into briefing materials, speeches, articles and press responses.
  • Identify opportunities to engage with the public policy debate through activity in parliament, the media and the wider sector.
  • Use detailed policy knowledge to assist in the development of contact programme with MPs, Peers, Ministers, civil servants and key stakeholder organisations.
  • Interpret and communicate the impacts of political developments to the sector and vice versa.
  • Work with the team to deliver successful political events.

What are we looking for?

If you have a track record of successful policy development and research, experience of influencing policy to effect change, excellent written and spoken communication and project management skills and demonstrable knowledge and experience of Parliamentary and political processes – this role is for you.

A good understanding of how bodies like the RIBA can influence the policy making process will also be essential for success in this role.

Experience or interest in built environment policy an advantage but not essential.
