Architect

Opening for a qualified RIBA Chartered Architect to join a growing planning and architecture practice in Wells. Salmon Planning Company is looking for an energetic and motivated architect who can head up and manage the small architectural team and work collaboratively with the team of Chartered Planning Consultants. 

Since 1998, Salmon Planning Company has established an excellent reputation for planning-led design across the South-West. We are now looking for an Architect who would enjoy developing the architectural services division of the Company. 

​​​​​​​Listed Building Office location, situated in the small market City of Wells – around 24 miles from Bristol or Bath with the nearest Rail Station (12 miles distant) at Castle Cary 

We are offering an attractive salary of up to £50,000 pa, according to experience, and the possibility of flexible working hours. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Develop high-quality scheme designs that meet client requirements and respond to local site conditions in conjunction with Chartered Town Planner colleagues.
• Manage and provide oversight to members of the Design Team.
• Prepare detailed designs and technical information, compliant with Building Regulations.
• Assist in compiling fee proposals for new projects.
• Conduct measured building surveys for smaller projects and produce accurate plans and 3D models as needed.
• Manage and build good working relationships with clients, consultants and contractors, communicating effectively to keep work progressing in line with schedules and budgets.
• Participate in weekly management meetings to plan upcoming work and resourcing.
• Effectively manage own workload and that of members of the Design Team.
• Carry out the duties of Principle Designer in line with the CDM regulations when required.
