Architect 5+ Years Qualified (conservation/residential)

West Scott Architects is looking for an architect with 5+ years post qualification experience to join their thriving practice. We have a consistent and developing workload of varied and interesting projects, with an emphasis on historic buildings conservation and contemporary design in sensitive areas. Based in Chiswick, West London we are involved in projects across southern England and beyond.

We are looking for someone who shares our passion for high quality, sympathetic design and can demonstrate an imaginative and practical approach to historic building work. As a small practice we can offer opportunities for involvement across all project stages. This is an excellent long-term opportunity for the right candidate who can show an enthusiasm to be a key part of our friendly, growing practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Project architect for residential, heritage and church clients – predominantly but not exclusively in a conservation context.
  • Supporting architect to projects led by the practice director.
  • Assisting practice director with architectural direction.
  • Supervising junior staff on projects.
  • Involvement in full range of small practice activities.

Key skills and attributes

  • Demonstrable interest in historic buildings.
  • An imaginative and practical approach to historic building work.
  • Good general computer skills plus CAD experience/proficiency.
  • Hand drawing skills essential.
  • Ability to design and detail.
  • Proven experience at all project stages from design to completion.
  • Ability and experience in production information, report writing, job running.
  • Site experience essential.
  • Comfortable and flexible in small office environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
