Rowan Orchid Architects seek talented and experienced Architects to lead their versatile team and efficiently manage projects of different sizes and complexity.

This is a great opportunity to assist in growing a small practice, with future options of becoming an Associate and company director.

The immediate role and responsibility of the advertised position would be to represent the practice and manage projects as part of a cooperation with a medium-sized contractor, who is expanding its number and size of projects.

The aim for the next years is to steer the project portfolio towards more low energy buildings and Passivhaus projects.

 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of high-end residential developments and one-off houses, and larger mixed-use and hospitality schemes ranging from £1m to £40m in construction value
  • Work on projects throughout all RIBA stages, deliver projects especially through stages 3-5
  • Work with and lead a small project team
  • Preparation of Tender & Construction information including drawings, schedules, specifications, models and images, and other documents related to construction design
  • Use ArchiCAD on a daily basis
  • Review, evaluation and coordination of technical design developed by the wider project design team and together with the main contractor, suppliers, and sub-contractors, pre-start of works and during the construction period
  • Act as lead contact with our new cooperation partner, who is a medium-sized contractor

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Registration with the Architects Registration Board
  • Qualified as an Architect with minimum 5 year’s post part 3 experience
  • Experience working on projects in a UK practice
  • Be confident in leading and delivering projects
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Excellent time and people management skills, allowing you to successfully lead a small team working on multiple projects at once
  • Experience working on high end Residential and mixed-use developments, including apartments and mews properties, as well as Hospitality projects
  • Proficiency in ArchiCAD (and Twinmotion), and 3D design development in general
  • Knowledge of Adobe photoshop and InDesign and MSOffice are preferable but not essential
  • NBS experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Sound knowledge of construction and building legislation
  • Exceptional detail design ability and construction knowledge
  • Care and attention to detail involved in delivering the scheme or work packages
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident, approachable, and a strong team player
  • Be presentable and confident with both client and contractor-facing responsibilities
  • Excellent English, both written and verbal + eligible to work in the UK

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a project team and oversee the design process from inception to completion. You will be responsible for preparing and developing drawings, images, and other documents related to project design and technical delivery across all RIBA stages.
