We have an exciting non-traditional opportunity for a Design Lead to assist Sport England on ensuring the provision of accessible, inclusive, safe and secure opportunities for all to be active in a place or space within the principles of active design, environments and travel.
You will be responsible for supporting developing guidance and resources which influence and shape investment into the physical environment whether layouts, designs, Briefing Notes, Guidance Notes or offering support / commenting on individual projects and programmes around design. Support to the implementation of the Accessible and Inclusive Sports Facilities suite of guidance documents to the sector shall be key.
You will liaise with key stakeholders, governing bodies of sports and wider public sector around innovation and sustainability. Current innovation ideas from concept to delivery include smaller local wet and dry provision (15m/20m of water). Providing technical guidance on the swimming pool support fund is a live example of our interventions around sustainability with energy costs.
You will support the management of our key Design and Technical Assurance external framework resources which comprise specialist, professional organisations, managing their commissions and outputs within defined financial envelopes.
You will be working closely with the Capital, Sustainability, Planning Teams and the other Design Leads in supporting our delivery of £250m of funding from small scale interventions (£25k) up to multi million pound strategic investments and other sustainability programmes of investment through Local Authorities and other Partners.
Sport England recognises the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds, particularly where we are under-represented, currently, this includes disabled people and those from culturally diverse communities.
