Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate/Assistant Professor in Architectural Structures and Building Technology in the Department of Architecture (Ref.: 523408), to commence on September 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
The Department of Architecture is internationally recognised as one of the world's most reputable architectural schools. Applicants should possess basic qualifications including a Master of Architecture or a Master of Science (or equivalent international degrees). Preferably, applicants should also possess a Ph.D. degree in the fields of architecture or engineering (or equivalent international degrees), or submit evidence of current enrolment in a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree-granting programmes. They should have a demonstrated track record in academic research and relevant professional experience. Full membership in professional institutions of architecture or engineering is preferred.
The appointee is expected to conduct research and teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in the area of fundamental structural behavior and principles as well as the basis of structural design, analysis, and planning of the broad spectrum of structures relevant to architects. The successful appointee will be able to provide a strong grounding in fundamental principles and working knowledge of structures to support a healthy integration with architectural design education at all levels of the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum. They will also be expected to participate in and provide support to architectural design studios and work with design teachers on a case-by-case basis.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
