About the Role
The RIBA Collections is RIBA’s four-million-strong collection of architectural drawings, photographs, manuscripts, books, models and associated artefacts. It is one of the very oldest, largest and richest collections of its kind anywhere in the world. The collections are a world-class research resource and are at the heart of RIBA’s exhibition and learning programmes.
We are seeking to appoint a Digitisation Officer as part of the Imaging Services team based at the RIBA Library in Portland Place, London with some hybrid working. The Imaging Services department is responsible for RIBA Collections’ digital assets and our online image database RIBApix. Candidates should be highly organised with an ability to work quickly and accurately both as part of a team and on your own initiative. You will have a proven track record in photography and digitisation, a knowledge of photographing and processing both 2-D and 3-D objects in a studio situation, the equipment, software and systems that will be used as well as an awareness of digital preservation best practice.
Additionally, the post holder will also be expected to contribute to RIBA’s income generation by licencing and disseminating images, fulfilling customer enquiries and orders, creating content for RIBApix as well as assisting the Imaging Services Manager with appropriate day-to-day activities.
Ideally candidates should have experience in handling museum/archive collections and a demonstrable interest in architecture and architectural photography.
