Job (Function)
Architect, Part 2
Contract Type
Permanent
Hours
Full Time, Flexible

We are seeking a qualified architect or an experienced Part 2 architectural assistant who is looking to join a thriving, design led architectural practice based in the West Country. Based in either Somerset near the beautiful Exmoor coast, or our studio in Honiton, Devon close to the Blackdown Hills, we are passionate about designing beautiful, contemporary homes.

If this design culture excites you, we are offering a salary in the range of £30,000 to £40,000 plus pension, depending on your skills and experience. We are actively building a diverse team and welcome applications from everyone including people of different ages.

We are an Employee Ownership Trust, so there is the potential for additional rewards over and above agreed salary, depending on practice performance, and a real engagement with the future of the practice. Our standards and expectations are high and we support flexible ways of working to allow a good work-life balance for our people. We care about architecture, and we value our team.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate with an ambition to progress their career in a beautiful part of the world. Do you:

  • Have at least 5 years post RIBA Part 2 or Part 3 accreditation or equivalent in-practice UK experience?
  • Enjoy the challenge of design and working with high-end residential properties and traditional buildings, often in sensitive contexts or settings?
  • Work in a focussed manner, have good design and technical skills?
  • Care about and have experience in sustainable construction and energy efficient design?
  • Have experience of working to the RIBA work stages from concept design through to execution of construction contracts?
  • Have a friendly, positive approach, and have an eye for detail, with experience of working independently whilst being part of a motivated team?
  • Have excellent written, graphic and verbal communication skills?
  • Have experience of using Vectorworks, SketchUp and NBS Building software where we work with Apple Mac’s? Whilst experience of these would be an advantage, training will be given if needed.

Our studios are a collaborative design environment where solving problems through good design is a fundamental part of practice life.  We will invest in you, learn from you, and will value what you have to offer.

Please send a covering letter, outlining why you would like to join us, along with your cv and not more than 6 examples of your own design work and technical construction drawings to design@lcarchitects.co.uk
