Head of Digital Design

Flexible location - hybrid working with 2 days minimum in London SW1 office.

If the idea of playing a digital design leadership role while working on a unique restoration project in an amazing high profile environment sounds like a challenge you’d relish, come and be part of our structure for success in this role as Head of Digital Design.

The Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal (R&R) Programme is set to be the UK's biggest and most complex ever building renovation programme. Indeed, significant work is needed to protect and preserve this fascinating UNESCO World Heritage site and ensure it can continue to serve as the home of the UK Parliament in the 21st Century. Accordingly, we're looking for an accomplished digital design professional to join us and help realise the programme’s strategic vision.

As a senior leader within the team, we’ll rely on you to oversee the programme’s Digital Design management function and all aspects of BIM and Digital Asset Management Delivery. What’s more, via matrix management with other heads of function, you’ll be responsible for the delivery of all technical studies, solutions and outcomes in the Programme, as well as ensuring compliance with requirements and managing design change and risk. Leading, managing and developing a Digital Design team, setting policy, creating and driving improvements, identifying and mitigating key risks and promoting collaboration and innovation – these are just some aspects of this outstanding once in a lifetime opportunity.

To succeed, you’ll need to be educated to degree level, with additional expertise gained through BIM related qualification, plus a member of an appropriate professional institution (RICS, ICE, CIOB, or CIBSE etc.). Fully conversant with BIM standards, including ISO19650 and PAS1192, your successful track record has been gained in a similar Head of Function level role. Indeed, you have a proven ability to develop standards and guidelines for diverse activities for a large organisation and/or multi-billion-pound complex project(s). You can also bring extensive and substantial technical experience, including managing BIM activities across multiple projects within a large-scale programme of works.

Sound technical and commercial expertise is also a must have, as is a proven ability to lead, develop and ensure teams have the required capability and capacity to meet current and future organisational needs and regulations. Used to working on buildings with significant heritage significance, as well as with large numbers of stakeholders across a broad spectrum of expertise, you have skilled judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented Digital Design problems. Crucially, you’re also able to quickly grasp the environment and dynamics in which Parliament operates, including its interaction with Government.

Benefits include:

  • 30 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Generous pension
  • Life Assurance
  • Payment of Professional fees
  • Employee discounts in a variety of retail outlets.
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Flexible working (minimum of 2 days per week office based)

We are committed to promoting diversity and to equal opportunities in employment. We are building diverse teams and seek to attract and retain talented individuals from a range of backgrounds and cultures to join us on this hugely challenging and important project.

Please apply by submitting a CV and cover letter stating your current salary and benefits, your suitability for the role and if you believe you have any current or potential conflicts of interest relating to this.

We look forward to receiving your completed application by 12 noon on Monday 30th January 2023.
