Head of Design Safety

 

We are on the lookout for an experienced Design Safety / CDM / Principal Designer specialist to lead our Safety Design Services and champion the importance of health and safety in our projects, promoting a culture of safety across the whole global practice.

 

You will have an opportunity to demonstrate your passion for design safety, together with your leadership, co-ordination and technical expertise to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of technical, health & safety, including CDM and Building Safety Bill requirements, as well as help our project leaders integrate design safety across all project stages and deliverables.

 

You will collaborate with others to ensure that our technical staff are kept up to date with the latest emerging industry discussions and best practice related to CDM / project health and safety. You will continually improve our internal standards, deliver regular training to drive our staff technical competency, maintain relevant company accreditations and carry out project reviews on UK and international projects.

 

Whilst delivering the CDM Principal Designer and Safety Design services, you will have the unique opportunity to manage bids and fee proposals for these services as well as represent the practice externally and develop business opportunities in the field of design for health and safety. 

 

We are looking for someone who is driven and proactive, with an open and inquisitive mind-set and a concern for quality.

 

Your skills:

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills Excellent presentation skills Strong team player and able to lead multidisciplinary meetings Highly organised and efficient with attention to detail Technical competency with good understanding of CDM and Building Safety Act requirements. Revit capability is essential with good understanding of BIM ISO19650 standards Digital competency, skilled in CAD, Microsoft Office and Affinity Suite applications (training will be provided where needed).

Your qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified architect or architectural technologist preferred, other construction backgrounds will be considered Qualifications or accreditation in CDM Principal Designer role such as RIBA, APS or IOSH Experience in a CDM/ H&S oriented role. Technical knowledge and experience of all RIBA workstages.
