Hybrid Working (London based but up to 80% remote working)

About the Role

The RIBA’s Technology Department delivers the technology that underpins our organisations membership, cultural, publishing, commercial, events & back office activities.  From Customer Relationship Management to digital archives and collections – we deliver a diverse range of technology products, platforms, and services. 

As we continue our transition from legacy hosted products, to cloud based SaaS/PaaS & IaaS technologies - Our dynamic team is also transitioning to an Agile / DevOps delivery model – with Frontline support and DevOps staff working collaboratively with our experienced and established PMO team. 

We are a hybrid team, working remotely up to 80% of the time – with a dedicated day each week at our HQ for collaboration and co-working. 

This a rare opportunity to shape and lead change in the organisation. Reporting to the Director of Technology, you will lead a team of 10 and be responsible for managing budgets, initiating, defining, developing, and leading change across the RIBA.  

You will utilise your experience to regularly review the portfolio of change and challenge the value of change requested by the business, through ownership of the business case process covering RoI, cost challenge, outcomes, and achievability of timescales.  

You will be comfortable conversing with all stakeholders and using your experiencing of digitally transforming businesses, you will guide our senior management, executives, and Board members on RIBAs technology journey – ensuring relevant, required, and necessary change is prioritised. 

RIBA is an organisation on a journey of transformation – changing the ways we work and deliver services to our members and the wider public.  Technology is an essential enabler for this transformation, and we have an exciting programme of work planned for the next five years.  You will be joining a team working with the latest cloud based technologies, development, and project management techniques – with significant opportunity to grow and develop your own skills.   

Wondering what we are looking for?

  • You will have a demonstrable experience of working in a change management environment, with a proven and results-driven track record across both technology and non-technology change – ideally with skills and experience gathered in a dynamic membership organisation. 
  • You will have excellent change management knowledge and skills and it is desirable to hold a recognised change management qualification – e.g., MSP; PRINCE2; AgilePM 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Experience of working with senior executives and Boards is desirable
