Our Marketing team runs campaigns to promote RIBA, its activities, events, products and services and thought leadership initiatives, covering topics from inspirational building design to sustainable architecture and business management. We target RIBA members, architects, construction industry professionals, policy makers, homeowners, advertisers and sponsors and the design-conscious public.

It’s an exciting time to join RIBA and develop creative campaigns that promote our programme of architectural awards, exhibitions, events, learning activities and thought leadership initiatives to help build a ‘House of Architecture’.

Your role and portfolio:

The Marketing Manager develops campaigns utilising the full marketing mix. Their portfolio includes:

  • Awards and prizes that recognise the best architecture, architects, research and students, including the Stirling Prize awarded annually to the UK’s best new building
  • Exhibitions that showcase the RIBA Collections – featuring architectural movements, styles and ideas throughout history
  • Cultural and professional event programme
  • Learning activities for children and adults
  • Education initiatives that support architecture students
  • High-profile thought leadership campaigns including ED&I and climate action

Campaign objectives include driving awareness, engagement and participation, increasing award entries, event bookings and exhibition footfall, and in turn supporting membership growth and satisfaction.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop creative marketing strategies and plans, set campaign objectives, monitor KPIs and manage marketing budgets.
  • Undertake audience segmentation, analysis and targeting.
  • Create effective propositions and messages and write compelling copy to appeal to a variety of audiences.
  • Develop marketing partnerships to reach new audiences.
  • Report and advise on marketing activity and outcomes using measurement tools including Google Analytics, making recommendations for change and improvement.
  • Oversee the tactical delivery of the marketing programme, working closely with your Marketing Executive, internal teams (including digital marketing, content, communications, sponsorship), product owners and stakeholders across the organisation. You will also work with external suppliers and agencies (including design, print, PR and digital advertising (PPC and paid social media).

Wondering what we are looking for?

We seek an experienced all-round marketer with creative flair and experience of developing marketing campaigns.

You should have:

  • Significant experience in a marketing role with an excellent understanding of marketing concepts and best practice.
  • Thorough knowledge of marketing and campaign planning and tactical delivery techniques using the full marketing mix.
  • Significant experience of traditional and digital marketing, including, direct mail, email, social media, digital/print advertising, PR, websites and digital platforms and event marketing.
  • Experience of managing budgets, people, projects and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with high-profile sponsors, partners and sales teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills, be highly accurate and comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines and deliver against KPIs and targets.
  • Confidence to communicate your ideas and be able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills and attention to detail.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of working in culture or the arts sectors on events, exhibitions, awards and on highly publicised activities. A business/marketing qualification is desirable.
