About the Role
Help deliver the change our industry and profession needs
This role leads a team within the RIBA Practice Department, driving innovation through knowledge and expertise, inspiring professionalism, and delivering professional support services for members. The role holder will be responsible for managing projects relating to technical knowledge in architecture and construction, design leadership, Standards and Building Regulations.
The Grenfell Tower tragedy and ongoing inquiry alongside the government’s review of the regulatory regime reveal the need for significant change in regulations, industry processes, professional competence, inclusion, and leadership. The RIBA has been working to support members and the wider construction industry on building safety and the future regulatory regime and the role holder will manage much of this work.
The built environment has an urgent role to play in responding to the climate emergency. The Head of Technical Practice will work closely with other professional bodies, institutions, and expert volunteers, developing standards, targets and tools to support sustainable outcomes.
The construction industry is going through significant change through digital transformation, new construction technology and procurement processes and the role of architect and lead designer continues to evolve. The Head of Technical Practice will manage the RIBA Plan of Work and deliver products and services that help architects maintain competence, operate successful businesses, and run effective projects.
