Location: Leeds (Hybrid Working)

Hours: Full time, fixed term contract for 12 months

The RIBA is the UK’s most widely recognised provider of architectural competition services with the expertise and experience to support the process from initial client idea through to project commission. The RIBA’s involvement is recognised as an indication of fairness and an assurance of best practice procedures.

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Competition Coordinator to provide administrative and logistical support to the Competitions team to ensure the team operates effectively and efficiently.

The RIBA Competitions team is responsible for managing architectural competitions in the UK and overseas and provides advice on the most appropriate type of competition and then manages the competitions process through to the appointment of a winner on behalf of a wide range of different organisations. 

Our headquarters are in London; however, the Competitions team are based in Leeds.  The role will be predominantly home-based but with regular weekly meetings with the rest of the competitions team in Leeds City Centre. In addition, there will be a requirement for travel in the UK with occasional overnight hotel stays.

As an integral member of this team, you will report to the Business Manager and provide support to the Senior Competition Managers. You will be expected to provide advice and guidance to potential clients who are considering using the RIBA Competitions service on the most appropriate selection process to meet their project objectives. This role also involves performing active follow up with potential clients and produce tailored technical proposals with costs to secure profitable contracts and promote additional services to clients (as appropriate) to maximise revenue.  You will be expected to undertake work to a high standard, with responsibility for accurate documentation and handling and communicating confidential information appropriately.

To be successful in this role you will be;

  • an excellent communicator, both written and verbally with a high level of professionalism
  • experienced in working within a client-focused environment
  • extremely organised, with the ability to multi-task and provide a high level of attention to detail
  • knowledgeable and experienced in MS Office packages

You will be a self-motivated individual with the ability to work autonomously using your own initiative whilst being a team player.  You will also need to have a flexible approach and the desire to continue to develop your skills and knowledge.

Knowledge and experience of the architecture sector or related field would be an advantage as well as an understanding of UK procurement regulations however, training will be provided.
