Part 1 / Part 2 Architectural Assistant, Swindon

Allan Corfield Architects are seeking talented and enthusiastic Part 1 & 2 Architectural Assistants, based near Swindon, who have a passion for low energy residential projects.

Established in 2009, award winning ACA have been helping self-builders design their dream homes. Specialising in the growing Custom & Self Build sector we have completed over 450 projects, spread across the length of the UK.

Working predominately on residential projects; including small extensions, one-off homes and large housing developments. ACA provide Architecture, Energy Assessment and now Structural Engineering services on all of our low energy eco homes.

These are built around the Fabric first approach, utilising modern methods of construction such as Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), Timber Frame and Insulating Concrete Formwork (ICF).

ACA utilise 3D BIM software ArchiCAD throughout the design process and have 2 Virtual Reality studios, where our clients (and team) can design and visualise in an immersive 3D environment.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for talented and imaginative Part 1 and Part 2 Architectural Assistants, to join our team. You will split your time between working from home and from our stand at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre in Swindon.

Roles & Responsibilities

• We will continue to grow your knowledge and add much needed practical experience, through all RIBA stages.
• However, you will mostly utilise ArchiCAD (and Twinmotion) and assist our Architects in creating stunning new homes.
• Reporting to Associates and Senior Architects.
• You will be enthusiastic, well organised, and disciplined – willing to put the work and hours in which are required at this stage of your career.

Skills & Experience

• You will have enjoyed and excelled at university and be almost complete or already graduated in a relevant Architecture Course.
• Ideally you will have had some practical experience already.
• Strong ArchiCAD or equivalent skills in 3D BIM software package
• Strong Photoshop or other visual drafting skills
• Experience or interest in the design of Fabric First or Passive House homes

• £22,000 - £28,000 depending on role/experience

• We will cover training and Part 3 examination costs (ARB registration and professional body fees), you will agree to a min of 24 month contract post examination

Start date & Location

• Start from May/June 2022.
• Part remote (working from home) and part working from our base in Swindon.
