Job Details

Be part of the vision; be part of the RIBA.

The RIBA is a global professional membership body, and a cultural organisation, driving excellence in architecture.

Salary: £25,088 - £28,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Remote working/London
Hours: 35 hours, full time – Permanent

The content team is a small, busy, friendly outfit comprising whip-smart digital specialists, visionary content designers and forensic analytics nerds who produce, advise on and troubleshoot editorial projects for colleagues across the RIBA looking to publish on Architecture.com. This Content Editor role sits at the heart of the team and is pivotal to its day-to-day success.

One of three editors within the team, this role will be responsible for a slate of digital content projects: everything from redesigning whole sections of the website for an optimal user journey to the line-by-line copyediting of features and site copy. Alongside the longer-term project work is the day-to-day editorial admin of the service desk ticketing system, which will often require the editor to shift workloads and muck in.

A particular focus of the next 12 months will be video and social media content – how we develop this area to reach audiences for whom the RIBA has previously felt less accessible; how we gauge and record the success of these efforts; and how we iterate for the future.

Each member of the team is also responsible for keeping up to date with the developments and upcoming initiatives across the organisation’s various subject areas – whether it’s public programmes, learning events, awards cycle or others – and we feed this intel into our planning docs, workflow and decision-making.

To succeed in the role, you’ll need a combination of digital editorial expertise, diplomacy and a robust approach to planning, prioritising and self-direction, especially at times of heightened team busyness. The ability to set up and shoot small filming projects and edit/publish for different social platforms would be a real asset, as would the manner and force of personality required to communicate and negotiate with colleagues at all stages of their career.

In terms of previous experience, a strong grasp of digital best practice gleaned from editorial projects would be beneficial - and some experience grappling with a fiddly content management system would also set you in good stead. Likewise, any experience generating and analysing user data would be helpful, day to day.

The RIBA offers employees a range of staff benefits including 26.5 days of annual leave + half-day for Christmas shopping, paid closure between Christmas & New Year, season ticket loan and generous pension scheme. For more details on our benefits click here

If you would like to apply for the position, please submit your CV and covering letter using the form below. Your covering letter should include a couple of observations about what does or doesn't work on Architecture.com. (For this position, “Work Examples” are not required so please submit your CV or covering letter again in this field). Additionally, please ensure that you complete our Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form which will be submitted separate from your application
