TOWN PLANNER | DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT

6-month contract

Penguin recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established and award-winning Local Authority in their search for a talented Town Planner to join their busy team in South-East London!

The successful candidate will process planning applications effectively, efficiently and in accordance with adopted policies. They will handle householder, advertisement and small minor works, lawful development certificated and all minor applications as well as telecommunications proposals and listed building consents!

Duties of the role

  • Work and use own initiative with little direct supervision from Team leader where required.
  • Processing a range of applications that may require support and guidance from Team Leader.
  • Provide information and advise to all those requesting this including other officers and members.
  • Provide the Councils' case at appeal through written representations and informal hearings.
  • Supporting Senior Planners at Committee meetings, including occasional presentation of cases as required.
  • Providing advice to Enforcement Team Officers.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess an RTPI accredited degree in a relevant Town Planning subject.
  • MRTPI Chartership desirable.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to collate, analyse, and interpret data.
  • Competent in the use of computer packages specific to Development Control.
