Project Architect

£39,255 - £49,991 plus £5,000 location allowance and excellent benefits

King Charles Street, London, SW1A 2AH

At FCDO Services (formerly known as FCO Services), we provide secure construction, digital and logistics services to all sorts of government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Our projects are both vital and wide-ranging: everything from rewiring a centuries-old embassy to delivering secure technology across continents.

We’re always on the lookout for new ways to grow and support our customers across the world. And that’s where you come in as a qualified, experienced Project Architect.

Based in central London, you’ll join a successful and professional team responsible for the delivery of architectural services to a wide range of construction projects and programmes. You will working on projects independently or as part of a team, at all RIBA stages, taking responsibility for all or part of a project and liaising with and coordinating members of the multi-disciplinary design team.

The role provides opportunities to work on some iconic and unique buildings, and to experience the construction industry in a broad range of cultures. The successful applicant will play a vital role in all stages of projects, from concept design through to delivery on current and future projects. As an integral member of the team, the position will provide an excellent opportunity for career development and experience.

You will have strong creative ability and presentation skills with an open, personable and self-reliant character. You’ll have the ability to multi-task under pressure, manage time and workload, and work both autonomously and with others. A flexible working approach is necessary as there is often a need to react, sometimes at short notice, to the changing needs and events that impact on the FCDO’s overseas estate.  Working alongside a wide range of customers, you must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

You’ll be expert in the use of Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign and experienced at writing specifications using NBS. Ideally you have an interest in and experience of implementing sustainable design.

We expect a lot from our architects but we’ll give you a lot back too. That starts with great benefits, including flexible working, an on-site nursery, a Civil Service pension, and more. And finally, most importantly, there’s that sense of purpose and impact you’ll feel – because you’ll be using your skills to support a business that helps protect people, information and assets all around the world. In short, it’s your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared to the highest level, so you’ll need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining. You are able to start work with Security Check (SC) clearance, with DV being a longer-term requirement of the role.
