Salary: £52,000 - £55,000 per annum depending on experience

Location: Initially working remotely with return to London office in due course

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week, fixed term contract, 12 months duration

This role leads the RIBA’s professional standards programme, managing a small expert team in driving and supporting the highest professional and ethical standards in the architects’ profession, and supports the work of the RIBA Standards Committee.

This portfolio includes:

  • The RIBA’s professional conduct function and the disciplinary procedures relating to the RIBA Codes of Professional Conduct and Practice which maintain professional standards and public confidence in RIBA chartered members and RIBA chartered practices.
  • RIBA Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services (Mediation, Adjudication, Arbitration).
  • Specialist registers for RIBA Conservation Architects and RIBA Clients Advisers.

Over the coming months the professional standards team will also be developing an accreditation scheme for architects who wish to act as principal designers under the new building safety legislation, and this will be an important focus for the postholder.

The successful candidate will need to be a highly organised, skilled administrator with effective project management skills. They will have demonstrable understanding and experience of managing complaints or legal processes such as professional conduct processes or equivalent tribunal or hearings processes, exercising judgement in evaluating and interpreting complaints. Ideally, they will have a legal or para-legal background and experience of business planning and budget management.
