0.4FTE Tutor (Research) MA Architecture Professional Practice

£46,629 - £52,137 per annum pro rata

The Royal College of Art, the world’s number one institution for research and study in art and design, provides students with unparalleled opportunities to develop their ideas and skills, and start projects that go on to transform the world.

We are looking for an outstanding Tutor (Research) to work closely with the Dean of School and the Head of Programme to conceptualise, coordinate, and administer teaching into professional practice studies as part of the RIBA/ARB Part II validation of the MA Architecture programme. We have a strong track record of delivering an innovative professional studies programme that is tailored to the active and critical students of the RCA. It is vital in this role that the candidate seeks to not only deliver professional criteria but also to inspire students to understand how professional knowledge and capacities are vital to their practice and their aspirations for innovation in the field.

In this capacity the candidate must be up to date with all recent developments in professional architectural education in the UK and will support the programme in meeting these criteria and incorporating them appropriately into the curriculum. If appropriate the candidate will act as PSA for the programme and offer PEDR to our students.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • First degree in a relevant Architecture specialism
  • RIBA/ARB Part 3 or equivalent award
  • Evidence of the ability to supervise academic work at master’s level
  • Experience of devising and teaching courses, and setting and assessing written work at undergraduate or postgraduate degree level
  • Evidence of, or clear potential to produce, research outputs of at least 3* REF quality in line with the strategic direction of the College
  • Commitment to high quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment for students
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Commitment to equality of opportunity and the ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures and backgrounds

Interviews are scheduled for mid-September 2021.

The Royal College of Art is an equal opportunities employer. The College particularly welcomes applications from all sections of the community and would particularly encourage members of minority groups to apply.
