Job Details

We're looking for a talented, intrepid and enthusiastic Architect to join our team. You will need excellent design skills, an eye for detail and sound construction knowledge in order to confidently lead a variety of exciting small scale new build and refurbishment projects.

The role is a permanent, full time position with a 6 month probationary period. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the qualities and skills as outlined below;

 

Essential:

  • Good technical understanding
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Well organised and able to efficiently manage time, deadlines, and workload
  • Be confident in coordinating and communicating with consultants and contractors
  • Good understanding of buildability, budget management and sustainable practice
  • Good knowledge of UK statutory regulations, contracts, procurement and delivery requirements 
  • A good level of on-site experience
  • Proficiency in Revit and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Keen attention to detail in designing, drawing, writing and presentation
  • A proactive, positive and can-do attitude
  • Be a fully qualified, ARB registered architect

 

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a small, design-led practice
  • A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working in Architecture and a commitment to independent, lifelong learning
  • Additional training or self directed study in associated subjects. Eg, sustainability, conservation, modern methods of construction
  • Ability to describe ideas effectively and efficiently through hand sketching
  • Full UK driving licence

 

Responsibilities:

  • To take a leading role in architectural projects, supported by a Director
  • To liaise with clients and other consultants in a clear, professional and engaging manner
  • To understand the design project and establish the requirements of a project brief
  • To prepare feasibility and concept design reports, working with varied media including Adobe Creative Suite
  • To prepare existing and proposed 3D models and 2D drawings up to Planning using Revit
  • To plan, prepare and execute full packages of technical drawings for RIBA Stage 4
  • To make site visits and lead site meetings, with associated contract administration
  • To carry out administrative tasks relevant to the production of architectural information
  • To research and prepare presentations on relevant industry topics to present to the practice. These may be self directed
  • To assist with the many and varied tasks associated with the daily running of a small practice and co-working office

 

This description reflects the core activities of the role, although there will be changes in the emphasis of duties as required from time to time. There is a requirement for the post holder to recognise this and adopt a flexible approach, sometimes working on several projects at one time.
