Be part of the vision; be part of the RIBA.

The RIBA is a global professional membership body, and a cultural organisation, driving excellence in architecture.

Salary: £20,480 - £23,552 per annum depending on experience

Location: Initially working remotely until return to London office in due course

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week, 8-month fixed-term contract

The RIBA’s exhibitions and public events deliver inspiring programmes, providing a platform for rigorous debate about, and visual experiences of, historical and contemporary architecture. Since opening our Architecture Gallery in 2014, we have hosted historical exhibitions from Palladian Design – The Good, the Bad and the Unexpected, to Beyond Bauhaus – Modernism in Britain 1933-66, as well as contemporary site-specific installations such as the critically acclaimed The Brutalist Playground by Assemble and Simon Terrill and Conservatism, or The Long Reign of Pseudo Georgian Architecture by Pablo Bronstein.

Our purpose is to connect the RIBA Collections with contemporary practice, creating engaging and thought-provoking programmes for people of all ages and backgrounds. To achieve this, we deliver public programmes within and outside our two main sites: 66 Portland Place in London (where this role will be primarily based) and RIBA North in Liverpool.

The role of the Public Programmes Assistant ensures that events are timely and efficiently administered in order to establish a public programme that is reputed for its friendly and professional delivery.

The role is also instrumental to help ensure that the Public Programmes team is well run and organised. This includes playing a key role in maintaining relationships with key internal stakeholders, including: distributing relevant information and invitations to the British Architectural Trust Board, Council Members and Senior Management; ensuring that contractual agreements are drafted for all creative collaborators; and uploading events and information to, Eventbrite and SurveyMonkey.

Candidates must have a strong interest in public and cultural event programming and architecture, alongside good administrative and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy – or evidence of the ability to develop these. In addition, you will possess excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the necessary interpersonal skills required to be an effective member of a team.

The RIBA offers colleagues a range of colleague benefits including 26.5 days of annual leave + half-day for Christmas shopping, paid closure between Christmas & New Year, season ticket loan and generous pension scheme. For more details on our benefits click here
