Senior Architect

RDA are looking for a Full time Senior Architect to join our team in our converted bakery in the Peckham/Dulwich area of South London to lead several high-profile Passivhaus and high-end residential projects.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with the ability to lead a small team and deliver a number of exciting projects from Stage 0-7.  In addition, you should have a general passion for architecture and business as this post will offer opportunities at a wider business development level.

The Practice

RDA are an award-winning studio specialising in designing and delivering innovative, sustainable buildings that encourage a better, cleaner way of living and working. We are highly regarded by Clients and industry for delivering certified Passivhaus schemes, embracing modular and offsite construction, achieving planning on awkward or sensitive sites, and designing beautiful bespoke interiors.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects across all RIBA stages
• Manage a small team of Architects, allocating work and resources in order to maintain an efficient way of working
• Manage your teams cash flow and forecasts
• Liaise with Clients, Consultants and Contractors, nurturing existing and developing new relationships
• Manage multiple projects on site under JCT and RIBA contracts, including in some cases overseeing the financial aspects of the project
• Working with the Director to pitch for and secure new projects
• Help with general marketing and company branding strategies, including competition and award entries

Experience and Knowledge

• Five years or more post qualification with proven experience of delivering similar projects in scale and complexity
• Understanding of Passivhaus and general sustainable design principals
• Confident user of ArchiCad with experience in PHPP, DesignPH and NBS also advantageous
• Be able to deliver projects managing time, cost and internal resources
• Confident understanding of UK planning and building regulations

Skills

• Confident leader with excellent people management skills
• Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise both the design team’s and your own internal team’s work to meet deadlines
• Excellent communicator of complex issues; verbally, in writing, through drawings and models, to different audiences
• Developer of creative solutions such that the interests of different stakeholders are appropriately addressed
• Hand draw ideas, plans and details confidently in design discussions
