About the role 

The role will take the lead role in the design and project management of the University’s capital projects across a mixed-use Estate portfolio of research and teaching facilities, student residences, social and hospitality space, sports facilities and commercial space. As a key member of the Estates Projects Team, the role will provide technical advice and guidance into a wide variety of projects and initiatives, working with both in-house teams and external consultants.

The role demands experience of good sustainability practice, reducing carbon in design, construction and use and working towards Zero Net Carbon objectives on all projects where practicable.

The postholder will be educated to degree and higher degree level in Architecture with professional qualifications up to RIBA Part 3 and a member of ARB as a minimum and the RIBA (preferred).  A minimum of 10 years post RIBA Part 3 experience and experience of successfully leading a design team of professional staff in an architectural practice or property services organisation is essential.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; experienced in preparing, analysing and presenting. complex information to a range of audiences and stakeholders effectively using a variety of mediums.
