Social Enterprise Exchange 2 (SEE2) is a programme managed by a consortium of specialist social enterprise support organisations and part funded by the European Union through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2014-2020. SEE2 will provide a comprehensive programme of social enterprise support contributing to jobs, growth and social inclusion across the Sheffield City Region, linked to the Regional Growth Hub.  The project will promote social entrepreneurship, through awareness raising events, knowledge exchange and peer networking; it will provide step-up support for start-ups, including hot-desks, start-up grants and mentoring; and it will offer specialist enterprise advice and support for existing social enterprises to grow and to develop new products and services.

The Social Enterprise Development Coordinator will devise and implement a programme of place based and property led growth support for social enterprises and business centres through liaison with key partners and support providers, in order to produce either a bespoke and/or generic programme of activity at each centre and for those enterprises entering the SEE2  Programme. They will also lead on communications including production of social media, an online publications, newsletter, web and multimedia content, and print media.

Job Description

Main tasks Development

  1. Devise and implement a programme of enterprise support at the centre and neighbourhood levels across the City Region through liaison with key partners and support providers
  2. Support the growth of core and high growth sector social enterprise and business centres operating within targeted areas of disadvantage.
  3. Provide project design, place based expertise and development support for social businesses and enterprises working across the Sheffield City Region neighbourhoods and town and city centres.

Support

  1. Delivery of support for social enterprises and business centres including: asset transfer and management, crowd funds and other investment opportunities and support programmes, sustainability, design and environmental support and advice, organisational support for managed and co-working space including business incubator and associated support facilities and services.
  2. Assist the Local Enterprise Coordinator to deliver packages of specialist enterprise support for social enterprises and those business centres activity encouraging and housing social businesses.
  3. Signpost projects to generalist business, economic development and social enterprise support and specialist equality and equity support organisations.
  4. Support community-based ICT facilities to remove the digital divide and tackle social and economic exclusion.

Networking

  1. Coordinate a programme of enterprise support within disadvantaged neighbourhoods, town and City centres.  Liaise with Sheffield City Region Growth Hub programmes and other business support programmes to produce a programme of activity designed to accelerate business growth and development.
  2. Build local networks including clusters of expertise.
  3. Lead on the development of all networking events during the lifespan of the project.
  4. Provide support develop online social networks.
  5. Support business and knowledge exchanges and sharing of practice and expertise and experience through the wider sector.

Communications

  1. Lead on all external communications, including production of online newsletters, print media, and events promotion.
  2. Prepare suitable reports, briefing notes, presentations and promotional materials as required.

General

  1. Provide quality regular monitoring and evaluation information as required.
  2. General administration including utilising new technology in support of the work programme.
  3. To work within the organisation policy framework, paying particular attention to promoting equal opportunities, a health and safety culture and good employee relations.
  4. Work closely with other members of the programme on shared activities, conferences, events, meetings, mailings etc.
  5. Carry out other duties as agreed with the CIQA Board.
  6. The work will be based in the Sheffield City Region.

Social Enterprise Development Coordinator

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • A graduate or postgraduate qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding and working experience with social enterprises, communities,neighbourhood organisations and charities.
  • Excellent visual communication skills & proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of website design, content management, blogging and social media marketing.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated – able to work independently and support projects.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of the built environment and sustainability.
  • Experience of working with social businesses and community enterprises

Desirable Criteria:

  • Interest in places, place making and in all aspects of the built environment and place based development including - Architecture, Planning, Urban Design, Economic Development and Regeneration etc.
  • Interest in working with communities and social enterprises.
  • Knowledge of the planning system, particularly neighbourhood based planning.
  • Experience of 2D and 3D CAD [Sketch-up, ArchiCad, Vectorworks, AutoCad]

This position is for 22.5 hours per week
