Due to growth, a Part Time or Full Time Experienced Architect is invited to join a creative and growing architectural and environmental design partnership in the beautiful seaside town of Ramsgate, Kent. The successful candidate shall work on a range of exciting projects from low energy new-build homes, heritage refurbishments and renovations, commercial public projects, interiors, landscape design and specialist projects of an individual nature. We maintain strong links with consultants, craftsmen and builders.

We are looking for a creative and inspired Experienced Architect to lead at RIBA Stages 4-6.  The Architect’s responsibilities include managing client relationships, developing and presenting design proposals, preparing drawings, specifications, budgets, construction documents and managing project teams.  You should be able to take ownership of the project, be it the design and construction of a new building, an extension, alterations or a restoration project, and deliver on the client’s requirements.

To be successful in this position you should be able to visualize space in three dimensions, have a good understanding of construction technologies, and be an effective project manager and superb communicator.  An outstanding Architect will have strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate superior technical design skills and be able to create designs that are functional, creative and sustainable.

Role

  • Meeting with clients and determining their needs and requirements
  • Managing design projects  from concept development through to completion
  • Developing and presenting project proposals
  • Adjusting designs and plans to meet the client’s needs
  • Preparing drawings, blueprints, specifications and construction documents
  • Liaising with local planning authority
  • Conducting research and compiling reports on feasibility and environmental impact.
  • Complying with safety standards and local planning regulations.
  • Determine and adhering to budgets and timelines.
  • Managing project teams and collaborating with other construction professionals.
  • Detailing and specification
  • Co-ordination of technical packages, consultants and building control
  • Contract Administration and site inspection
  • CDM Principal designer role
  • Reviewing and designing architectural and engineering plans.
  • Ensuring all plans are compliant with governmental health and safety regulations.
  • Researching and maintaining knowledge of various engineering disciplines, application methods, and materials.
  • Monitoring the work of other Architects and making recommendations or scheduling workshops as required.
  • Providing guidance to subcontractors like builders, plumbers, and electricians, and helping them interpret design specifications.
  • Liaising with clients to ensure all issues are addressed in a timely manner, and that project requirements are met.
  • Ensuring the team works together to achieve set goals and targets.
  • Acting as a mentor to any new Architects and helping them fine-tune their design skills and improve their industry knowledge.
  • Networking and consulting with various industry professionals

 

Other requirements

  • Undergraduate and Master’s degree in Architecture (or equivalent Part I & Part II).
  • ARB Registration.
  • 5 years post qualification experience across RIBA Work Stages, particularly Stages 4-6.
  • Onsite experience and Contract Administration experience.
  • Excellent Technical drawing skills.
  • Co-ordination of design team and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of Google suite, software programs 3D Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of building regulations and regulatory standards.
  • Strong creative and visualising skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly analytical.
  • Deadline-driven and dedicated to excellence.

Salary

 

- Salary to be agreed upon level of experience ascertained.

- Six month probation period featuring two Personal development reviews at three month intervals.
