Be part of the vision; be part of the RIBA.

The RIBA is a global professional membership body, and a cultural organisation, driving excellence in architecture.

Salary: £35,840 per annum
Location: London: RIBA offices, V&A Exhibition Road site; 66 Portland Place, W1
Hours: full time, 35 hours per week, 12 month fixed term contract

The RIBA cares for one of the largest and most diverse architectural collections in the world. From 15th century books and drawings to photographs documenting architecture around the world today, the collections constitute a unique body of knowledge, shared through exciting access, learning and exhibition programmes.

There are over four million items in the collections, including archival documents, drawings, and photographs. Our collections include the institutional archive of the RIBA, an invaluable resource documenting the Institute and the history of the practice and discipline of architecture and its place in public life, as well as up to a million papers of architects and related organisations. To find out more visit https://www.architecture.com/about/riba-library-and-collections

This role, focuses heavily on the Institutional archive. You will be RIBA’s professional archivist, working as part of the Collections team. You will audit its current management and practice, address pressing issues of acquisition, collections management, cataloguing and access, advising on data protection and records management matters, and lay the groundwork for a strong professional archive service as part of the Institute’s cultural offer and good governance going forward. You will also play a full part in the collections team, taking a regular weekly shift on our Study Room desk at the V&A which offers access to hundreds of researchers each year, and participate in the full range of projects – from learning to public programmes to exhibitions to fundraising – which are carried out.
