Job Details

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) champions better buildings, communities and the environment through architecture and its members. With a passion to promote a wider public appetite and interest in architecture through its website, exhibitions, talks and four million-strong collections, the RIBA has led the profession since its foundation in 1834, and continues to lead as architects face the challenges of the 21st century.

The RIBA’s Retail Customer Services team, based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, takes orders and raises the appropriate invoices for publications and contacts. It also handles queries, often of a technical nature, over the phone from members, individuals and various organisations, as well as processing web and email orders, and updating the RIBA Books retail website.

Reporting to the Customer Services Manager you will be part of a team responsible for delivering to income targets. You will also be providing first-class customer service, ensuring that all customers’ requirements are met to the highest standard and that product is dispatched in time to meet our service level agreements.

You will work closely with our Bookshop Team in London, as well as our Buyer and external distributor, often to tight deadlines.
Previous customer services experience with a working knowledge of customer databases or telesales is desirable, but not essential, as are strong financial, written and verbal communication skills. You will be a confident, sales-driven team member with the ability to multi-task, build and develop relationships while managing customers’ expectations.
You’ll need to be educated to GCSE level, or equivalent, and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook.

If you would like to apply for the position, please send a CV, cover letter and a completed Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form and Applicants Statement to recruitment@riba.org
