Architect

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced architect to join Compton Group, a successful, family-owned property company, whose origins as a housebuilder date back to the early 1950s.

We are looking for an architect to work in-house at our head office in Morriston, Swansea alongside our surveying, legal and marketing team. This is a permanent position where we are happy to offer flexible hours for the right person.

We are keen to push ahead with developing different sites we own including a site of 150 acres. We also have an extensive portfolio of residential freehold ground rents, which we now wish to exploit, e.g. by adding additional storeys to blocks of flats or by gaining planning permission on vacant small plots of land.

The role

This is a wide ranging and interesting position reporting directly to the Group Managing Director. As such, this will be an important position and we will be looking for the successful candidate to make a significant contribution to the future growth of the Group. The key responsibilities will involve:

• Taking a scheme from initial brief through to concept development and on to project completion
• Ensuring compliance of design with statutory and professional requirements
• Obtaining planning permission for the Group’s schemes
• Liaising with site staff, contractors and relevant suppliers

The candidate

We are looking for someone who is

• a qualified architect, with at least 5 years’ post qualification experience
• familiar with relevant building regulations and legislation
• IT/CAD capable
• entrepreneurial and flexible
• a self-starter, able to work in this stand-alone position with minimal supervision
• a team player with a can-do attitude
