DAP Architecture is a growing, design led practice based in Chelmsford, Essex, with a satellite office in London’s Mayfair. The team is made up of dedicated and enthusiastic architects, urban and interior designers, technologists and support staff.

This RIBA Chartered Architectural practice works across various sectors including education, commercial, conservation and interiors, but specialises in residential projects of all types. It is dedicated to delivering excellence at every stage, with an open plan studio that fosters close collaboration and a sharing of skills and ideas.

Due to an increasing workload and an exciting period of growth, DAP is looking to expand its team and is looking for two talented and highly motivated individuals to fulfil the following roles. ROLE 1 - SENIOR ARCHITECT (Based in Chelmsford)

The successful candidate will have strong and proven design capability, be an organised team player with an ability to operate well under pressure and have excellent communication and presentation skills.

Role & Responsibilities

Core responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Leading projects from inception to completion, but with particular emphasis on RIBA Work Stages 0-3;
  • Managing and coordinating a project team of both in-house staff and external consultants;
  • Forecasting and coordinating project resource and workflow;
  • Preparing and coordinating planning documentation;
  • Liaising closely with clients and local authorities to exceed expectations. 

Required Skills & Experience

  • RIBA Chartered Architect or desire for chartership essential;
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD, plus 3D modelling software such as Revit or (preferably) ArchiCAD;
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating proven design ability and excellent presentation skills;
  • 5+ years’ experience in professional practice post-Part 3;
  • Residential experience essential, but experience across a range of sectors including Education, Mixed Use/Commercial and Assisted Living/Care Homes would be highly beneficial.

Salary & Package

The salary offered will be between £35,000 and £45,000 per annum depending on experience. Additional benefits include on-site car parking, payment of professional memberships and a generous holiday entitlement.

 

ROLE 2 - SENIOR TECHNICAL ARCHITECT OR SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST (Based in Chelmsford)

The successful candidate will have strong and proven design ability with an emphasis on technical design, be an organised team player with an ability to operate well under pressure, possess a thorough knowledge of UK Building Regulations and proven contract administration/site experience.

Role & Responsibilities

Core responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Leading projects from inception to completion, but with particular emphasis on RIBA Work Stages 4-6;
  • Managing and coordinating a project team of both in-house staff and external consultants;
  • Forecasting and coordinating project resource and workflow;
  • Able to provide technical expertise across a variety of projects from inception to completion across all RIBA stages;
  • Preparing and coordinating technical design packages, building regulation submissions, tender and contract documentation;
  • Liaising closely with clients to ensure delivery on time, to required budget and quality standards;
  • Providing on-site technical support to clients and/or contractors.

Required Skills & Experience

  • RIBA Chartered Architect or desire for chartership OR MCIAT essential;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, plus 3D modelling software such as Revit or (preferably) ArchiCAD;
  • Proven technical ability;
  • Specification writing;
  • Contract administration;
  • 5+ years’ post-qualification experience in professional practice;
  •  Residential experience essential; experience of working closely with design & build contractors and housebuilders would be highly beneficial.
