Squires Barnett Architects seek an experienced Project Architect and Part II Assistant to join its small and tightly-knit team in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Established in 2013, we have focused exclusively on domestic and residential projects since 2016. In this time we have developed a reputation for tackling challenging sites and now gain the majority of work from referrals.

Working with a variety of clients, from social-housing providers to affluent private clients, we work at various scales from high-end domestic alterations to one off new-builds and residential developments up to sixty units.

The ideal candidates will be creative and confident, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for domestic and residential architecture. They must be a strongly self-motivated designer, able to take initiative as well as working as part of a team. The role would include working in a small team, to assist and contribute throughout the design process.

This would include sketching, 3D computer modelling and preparing work for presentations to clients and bidding for prospective jobs. The role also offers excellent opportunities for client interaction, site and project-running experience.

The office works at a high tempo, but believes strongly in establishing a positive work/life balance.

Essential skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (fluent English both written and spoken are essential)
  • Hand-sketching
  • AutoCad (Revit is advantageous but not essential)
  • SketchUp
  • Demonstratable experience running projects and confidence managing projects from start to finish
  • Commercial awareness

You will join a young and social-team with a passion for raising the standards of residential architecture in the region.

We offer a highly competitive salary and on-going career development support.
